Off to Sydney

Really heartwarming to have so many pple see me off yesterday. Macpherson 4D kids. You guys are the best, seriously. The apple and chocolate cakes were superbo. I had the apple one in the lounge. Lots of pics of me eating it... Chocolate on the plane. Box had to be thrown away cauz cant bring foodstuff into aus. I love the columbia shirt as well but seriously guys... i'd have done better in a S size.

RY, Glen, Horny Ho, Jensen Ang. Chums from S03H, 4D, Band. Kudos to u guys for being superb hang out buddies and great friends. Thx for the Scottish made scarf and motivational book. Please do keep the band intact. If we can jam/gig in July that'll be best.

Nick, Daryl Ho(jib**) haha... It was nice having u guys over for dessert and drinks the night before. Its really nice to catch up like that after so long.

Mixed Feelings

Its crazy. I'm having insanely mixed feelings about leaving for Syd. Well the prospect of having a new life is really exciting. But the thought of leaving everything behind is quite... unsettling. The packing process is really emo.. and my last few days at Macpherson made it alot worse.

I'm almost all packed. Leaving tonight. Been meeting up with whole bunches of people. Kudos to the treats. Met with Nick Ong last sat for lunch, we headed to Sun with Moon @ Wheelock. Had a nice chat about how things are turning out as we grow up. Its indeed amazing how far we've all come since our sec sch days. Dinner was with RI 4D class. Bernard, Sweesen, Jensen Ang, Liang King, WoonYang, ChinBock, HoPing, Beng, Joseph & ZhongYe. Went to Fish&Co and had a spendid time reliving our memories, gossiping about other classmates etc. Trooped down to Timbre after that and played some games where i had to end up asking some waitress for her number and ben ng had to get her photo(but we obviously failed). Chionged back home after. 1GDS scout specs came over. More accurately the "cool club". Ivan lee, Ivan lim, John Teng, CX, Hardo and I all sat in Dann's car and exposed ourselves to being victims of horrible car crashes. Saw Man U whoop Arsenal 4-0. Hardo slept a weird porno position thats only made possible of him. Dann tried to fit into my luggage.

Yest i met with Ry, Jensen, Frank Oh and KangWen for lunch. I totally forgot about the breakfast i was supposed to have with Frank and he didnt remind me so... Lunch was so bloody late at around 230. Another round of juicy gossip this time involving RJ pple esp N*****. I never knew guys could be so Ba Gua(do not mistake for BBQ Pork)... Youth was kinda sad. Only Chloe, Nick, HJ, Kenneth, Rach, RY and Me...

Farewell from Macpherson

Farewell gifts. I got a bottle of green tea from (argh i'm smacking myself for forgetting his name), that guy in 3D, Lumont chocolate muffin from wayne, alvin and ivan, Van Houten from Violetta(she's really the sweetest thing haha), Kinder Bueno from one of the girls from 3D... i cant rmb who... either an li or V again. And a mysterious bodywash pack appeared on my table today... i dont know who gave it but i'm claiming it as my own anyway.

It has really been an amazing eye-opening experience teaching at Macpherson. Growing up in such a sheltered environment, i've never gotten exposed to most of the stuff these kids are used to. Coming from a single sex school where elitism is a well debated topic, i really learn alot from my time in a co-ed neighbourhood school(no offence here guys). When its never about learning but about getting an education. When it sometimes get to the point of discipline and not teach. When sticking to the schedule is an amazing feat. I found it difficult to follow the weekly plan and when the kids actually learn its a helluva achievement. Mrs Ho Wai Lin was an inspiration. My methods and mannerisms in class were almost fully emulated from our sec 3/4 classes. Its really a respectable job you're doing Mrs Ho.

Valentine's Birthday.

Crazy day. I came home half dead thou. On tue Alvin, Ivan and I trooped off to Candy Empire to get gifts for our students. Alvin has an absymal sense of direction. I got chided for actually having a sense of direction... and apparently Millenia Walk is at Raffles Hotel!@#~!@~!@~$~@!##$#@$

Anyway we bought loads of stuff from Candy Empire. Got something for all my students and Rach and Deb(cauz i'll be at their house tuitioning rach). Wanted to get something for Abi but i thought since its V Day and she's attached, i didn't suppose she'd stay home.

Haribo and Cadbury is a surefire way to make pple happy. Glen says Haribo can be used to bribe anyone... haha. Bought 5B a box of nice chocolates as well because they were a small class... but apparently my sec 3 class caught wind of it and i'm being accused of being biased.

V DAY! I had a good time giving out the chocolates and sweets to my 3 classes. A few students were adamant about not taking any(its amazing how anyone can refuse Haribo or Cadbury). One was Violetta... i tried to con her into taking but it failed haha.

Rents picked me from Macpherson right after my last class. We went to Robinsons and i got a suit made. It looks splendid cauz its tapered in the mid. Got a pair of Lacoste glasses as well so i'd have a spare to use in Aus. Dinner was wonderful too. Hosoi Teppan-Yaki House!

I didnt manage to get pictures of the my tenderloin because i was too hungry and started on it before i remembered to take any. Oh well. Overall experience is an almost perfect 4.5/5. The only set back is that they're grossly understaffed, only 1 member of the staff speaks english, and the serving order of our dinner. We had appetiser, crab, soup, salad, then the beef(crab and beef are both part of the main course), and finally dessert. Weird shit.

Rushed down for tuition. Rach goes nuts after eating chocolates. Note to self: dont give her too much chocolate.

T'was really the best gig i've ever played at. Funny how all the better gigs always happen in school. Previously it was the RI Graduation '03, O2 Nite '04 , Ohana '04(RJC open house 2004). Then the lousy gigs... Birthday(kenneth's cousin's)@Hilton; SAFAirWingGraduationBall@Furama etc...

Its funny how my band has talent, but when we come together, our jams or gigs always happen to suck. Probably cauz we're a big band, we try stuff that's too difficult and we play covers too specifically. We're not making music, we tended to focus more on recreating music.

Mad in Macpherson

Class 3D got screwed by me today... I've been much too soft on them. MUCH TOO SOFT. Today was the last straw. I can't believe I just exploded on them today. But OH BOY to what effect. T'was instant. The class was shocked. I never showed them this side of me. I never thought I would need to within this period of 2.5 weeks but, NO they didnt even last 4 days.

Looking forward to the gig later at NYJC. We're guest band so i hope we dont screw up. I hope i dont screw up. Bass is not really something i thought i'd be playing for long but i guess its here to stay. Not sure if i can back up sing thou. Gotta try later on.

Last day of school for the week tomorrow. 4 Periods. None of them consecutive. 5B's first.

Aetos security. Rocks. I am adamant in believing that I was treated unfairly and unprofessionally by a single Aetos employee(ok maybe two). It cost me about 1 hour. The following is a narrative of yesterday's events(from Mr I-do-not-need-to-listen-to-young-people Aetos Guard's point of view) :

My new secret indulgence

GOSSIP GIRL!

Yes its into the 12th episode. Its my new trash indulgence. When i just wanna be that gossipy girl(my initial choice for word was a bit too harsh that starts with s and ends with lut) bitching, backstabbing and just being plain evil. I know I can't do that. My social programming just doesn't allow for that. So my release is gossip girl.

I do see the difference in having that charmed life. Sometimes i draw unfair comparisons and parallels to some in my social circle. It is unfair - life isn't ever fair. Those born with a platinum/golden/silver spoon will never understand the life of the lower social class people. Like how a royal will never truly know the plebeians. Yes, they will see their share of problems, worries etc, but I'm sure it pales in comparison to skipping school for fear of getting your head pounded in with a hammer, or avoiding Ang Mo Kio area because the gang members there know you or even going to the police station regularly to bail out a friend.

Went to teach a few kids at Pertapis Children's' Home. Its approved by MCYS ministry of community development youth and sports. If i thought John was havoc, this is HAVOC x4! hahaha I teach 4 primary 5 kids math on Mondays and 2 primary 4 kids on Tuesdays. I met a man who gives tuition full time. He's a specialist in primary 6 preparation for PSLE. He believes the Singapore government's education standard is very high and its still going up. That might not necessarily be good. On the top end of the spectrum of students, this is advantageous. At the opposite end, the students are already struggling with work that they are supposed to know 1 or 2 years ago. How is it possible to teach a boy who still counts with his fingers AP, GP? When adults look at PSLE questions and are stumped, its telling of our education direction. It says clearly that things we learn is MUCH TOO ABSTRACT. An adult who does not know how to solve a PSLE question will only show that what kids are learning at 12 has no application whatsoever to adult life.

I went right after baptism service at Queenstown Baptist Church. Congrats to CHLOE SNG, SNG HAN JIE, WILLIAM LIM, HENRY LIM, NAHUM CHEW!! After the service, I went off to Bugis, where I was supposed to meet with Phoebe. Dinner was at Ministry Of Food-My Izakaya... Ok truth be told, i'm going on about this like a "today-i-am-such-a-boring-bitch-and-brushed-my-teeth-and-put-on-my-clothes-and-went-to-school" blog so i shall just stop here. Sharapova was great anyway! And the highlight(and malu part) of the whole thing is that Phoebe drove us frm Bugis to Kallang.
